"CenPho" is a nickname that refers to the area of Phoenix, Arizona described as Central Phoenix.

Central Phoenix is not an officially recognized geographic area, but locals generally refer to the area between I-17 and SR-51 (west to east) and Northern Avenue and I-17 (north to south) as Central Phoenix.

History

The first documented use of the term CenPho was on the Web site, CenPho.com, in 2005. The term has since appeared in numerous other sources.

SideBar, a bar located in Central Phoenix, serves a drink called the CenPhopolitan.

The Phoenix New Times food blog, Chow Bella[1], regularly highlights restaurants located in "CenPho."

Another Web site dedicated to life in Central Phoenix, CenPho.tv, produces weekly videos about events taking place in Central Phoenix.

In May 2009, 944 Magazine[2] published an article that stated: "Without a doubt, 'CenPho' has become the hottest part of town to do anything."
