Dizzy Mizz Lizzy was a rock band from Denmark started in 1988. The band consisted of Tim Christensen (vocals, guitar), Martin Nielsen (bass guitar) and Søren Friis (drums). The group disbanded in 1998, and have since only performed once together.

History

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy was founded at Hanssted School in Valby, a suburb of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1988. The three founding members of the band were friends at school. The name was derived from the Beatles cover of the Larry Williams song Dizzy Miss Lizzy. The band entered DM i Rock, which is the Danish Championship in Rock Music in 1991, and despite reaching the final, no record companies wanted to sign the band. The trio entered DM i Rock once again the following year with the same outcome, but in the 1993 DM i Rock, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy won. The grand prize was a recording session for a 4 track EP. This spawned the song Waterline which was a huge hit on DR P3, and subsequently landed the band a record deal with EMI.

Working with producer Nick Foss, the band released their eponymous debut album in 1994. It was a huge success in Denmark, selling 220,000 copies. ^[1] Four singles were released from the album and all achived success in radioplay; Silverflame, Barberwired Baby's Dream, Love Is a Loser's Game and Waterline. The following tour was also a success, as all concerts were sold out. Dizzy Mizz Lizzy also performed at the 1994 Roskilde Festival on frontman Tim Christensens 20th birthday.

In 1996, again working with Nick Foss, the band released their follow-up album Rotator which was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studio. The album, however, failed to match the critical and commercial succes of its predecessor, although it managed to win the Danish Grammy for "Rock album of the year".

After five years of non stop recording and touring, the band decided to take a break in 1997. In 1998, the band decided to split up, and frontman Tim Christensen started to purse a solo career, which subsequently has been quite successful.

In 2002, the band released a Greatest Hits collection including a live performance recorded in Aarhus in 1996.

The bands only performance together since the break-up was an August 2006 tribute concert called Brandalarm for a practice studio that was burned to the ground.
