HistoricusCrinitus (Latin for 'Longhaired Historian', after the Merovingian reges criniti or longhaired kings), graduated with an MA in Ancient and Medieval History. They are interested generally in the history and archaeology of the Roman and Medieval period, with a focus on Late Antiquity, the Early Middle Ages and the 'Migration Age'.
HistoricusCrinitus aims to improve wiki-pages in these categories with information from and references to more recent academic literature, since many articles are based on outdated or selective readings. In particular, there seems to be a bias towards the more frequent inclusion of Germanicizing and catastrophist perspectives on Wikipedia, which has been challenged over the last decades by a large number of respected historians and archaeologists loosely identified as part of the 'Transformation of the Roman World'-paradigm emphasizing continuity. Both sides have their merits, and the wider audience should have the opportunity to learn about both approaches.
