Morty was founded by Brian Faux, Nora Apsel and Adam Rothblatt in 2015 and launched with 10 lenders in 10 major markets in May 2017. As of August 2017, Morty is licensed to operate and offer borrowers mortgage in option in 11 states: Georgia, Virginia, Oregon, Tennessee, Colorado, North Carolina, Florida, Minnesota, Connecticut, Maryland and Washington DC

Morty is backed by investors including Thrive Capital, SV Angel, FJ Labs, Corigin Ventures, MetaProp, Techstars and several angel investors, having raised $3 million as of September 2017.
