• アチャモ (Achamo), the Japanese name for Torchic, is a portmanteau of 赤 (aka "baby") and 軍鶏 shamo, a breed of Japanese bird originally bred for cock fighting.
• Torchic's evolutions, Combusken and Blaziken, are the first dual Fire/Fighting-type in the Pokémon series.
