Hiccups is the 11th episode of the first season of Peppa Pig.

Synopsis

[edit]

George gets the hiccups after he drinks his juice too fast, so Peppa tries to help get rid of them.

Summary

[edit]

The Pig Family is busy eating breakfast when Peppa and George drink their juice, excited to go outside and play. George drinks his juice really fast like Peppa, despite Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig warning him not to do this. He starts to hiccup, which Peppa finds amusing.

Mummy decides that they shouldn't go out until he gets over his hiccups but later reconsiders after telling Peppa to keep an eye on him. Peppa and George play in the garden, but George has trouble because of his hiccups. Peppa tries twice to get rid of them, by telling George to rub his head, and his tummy, but George is still hiccuping, causing Peppa to think that he’s doing it all wrong. Then Peppa tried a different way for him, by telling him to hop on one leg three times, sticking out his tongue, while flapping his arms, and closing his eyes and spinning around three times, but it didn’t work either. Finally, Peppa knew one more thing to hear the hiccups. She is now gently warning George that she will try to scare them away. She covers her eyes and lets out a very loud snort, causing George to cry.

Mummy Pig joins them and scolds Peppa for being too rough with George, but Peppa claims she only did it to try to help him. It seems to have worked, and everyone cheers up.

Daddy Pig appears with some juice for everyone and they once again remind George not to drink too fast. He listens, but Peppa insists that because she isn't so little, she doesn't need to be as careful. This proves to be problematic, however, and she winds up giving herself hiccups. Everyone finds this amusing, except for her for the first few seconds, then they all laugh as the episode ends.

Trivia

[edit]
  • In the original airing of the episode, Peppa and George just rub the top of their heads and their tummies normally. In the 2011 airing, they tilt their heads to do so. That’s because the piggies’ short arms cannot reach their heads normally.
  • This is the first episode if you go by Nick Jr. US episode numbers. However, the first episode to officially air on that channel was "Sleepover".
  • This episode went viral when in the end of this episode, The Camera zooms in on Peppa. This is also happening in the pilot episode.
  • This is the third episode where George cries in low-pitched. The first, Flying a Kite and the second, The School Fete.

Errors

[edit]
  • When Peppa said "Mummy please can we got out to play" a bowl of cereal possibly Daddy Pig's can be seen floating on the left side.
    • Also the spoon she holds is on the table.
  • When Daddy Pig pours the milk on his cereal the milk doesn't change.
  • When Peppa grabs the spoon her hand clips through Mummy Pig's cereal.

Transcript

[edit]

(Scene starts to Peppa's house)

Narrator: Peppa, George, Mummy and Daddy are having breakfast. It is a lovely sunny day, and Peppa and George can’t wait to go into the garden to play.

Peppa Pig: Mummy, please can we go out to play?

Mummy Pig: You can go out to play when you finish your breakfast.

(Peppa eats her cereal and drinks her juice quickly. George copies Peppa.)

Daddy Pig: George, don’t drink your juice too quickly.

(George drinks his juice, but now he has hiccups.)

Narrator: George drank his juice too quickly, and now he has hiccups.

Peppa Pig: Can we go out to play now, Mummy?

Mummy Pig: Not while George has hiccups.

Peppa Pig: But George’s hiccups have gone, Mummy. Haven’t they, George?

(George still hiccuping, and The Pig familly starts laughing, except George.)

Mummy Pig: Oh, all right. You can go out and play. But look after George.

Narrator: Peppa and George love playing in the garden.

Peppa Pig: George, I’m going to throw the ball and then you have to catch it.

(George starts hiccuping)

Peppa Pig: George, please stop hiccuping.

(George still hiccuping, when Peppa throws the ball and gets hit)

Peppa Pig: George!

Peppa Pig: Now you throw the ball to me and I have to catch it.

(George throws the ball, but he hiccups)

Peppa Pig: GEORGE!

Narrator: Oh, dear. George’s hiccups are spoiling the game.

Peppa Pig: George, I know how to cure hiccups. You have to do what I say.

(George Pig nods, then hiccups)

Peppa Pig: Rub the top of your head and rub your tummy.

(George follows Peppa's instructions)

Peppa Pig: Good. Now your hiccups have gone.

(But... George still had hiccups.)

Narrator: Peppa’s cure for hiccups doesn’t seem to have worked.

Peppa Pig: George, you’ve done it all wrong. I know a better way to cure hiccups. First, jump up and down three times on one leg.

Peppa Pig: Now wave your arms up and down and stick your tongue out.

Peppa Pig: And now close your eyes and turn around quickly three times.

(George follows Peppa's instructions, but still hiccups)

Narrator: Peppa’s new cure hasn’t worked either. George still has hiccups.

Peppa Pig: I know! To cure hiccups, the little piggy must be given a shock. George, I’m going to scare you, but you must remember it’s only a game and it will stop your hiccups.

(Peppa Pig covers her eyes)

Peppa Pig: Remember, this is just pretend scaring.

(Peppa Pig covers her eyes and having a loud snort to scare George, George looks at the screen, blinks twice and cries)

Mummy Pig: Peppa, you mustn’t play so roughly with George! He’s only little!

Peppa Pig: Sorry, Mummy. I was just trying to stop George’s hiccups.

Narrator: George’s hiccups have gone.

Narrator: Here comes Daddy Pig with two beakers of juice.

(George jumps up and down. Them he grabs the juice, that he's about to drink)

Mummy Pig: George, if you drink too quickly you will get hiccups again.

Peppa Pig: I’m not as little as George. I can drink juice as quickly as I want to.

(Peppa has drunk her juice quickly, and now she has hiccups, similar to George. The pig family starts laughing, Peppa also laughs.)
