David Cheng was born on July 21st,1989 (22 years old) in Beijing, China. After attending school in Washington, USA most of his childhood, Cheng began his career as an international professional racing driver. Specializing in Formula, Karting, Stock, and Road Racing, Cheng is one of the only drivers in the world that races two full series on two continents in a single season.

Background

David Cheng Racing[1] began in 2009 to establish and improve the racing career of David Cheng. His interest in motorsports began at an early age, and gaining dual- citizenship within the USA and Hong Kong left open opportunity for his international dreams. Current manager of DCR, Dan Gulickson, was David's History teacher in high school. He encouraged  David to follow his dream of becoming a professional racing driver and continues to guide him on the path to fulfilling this dream. Along with Dan and Brand Manager, Ashley van Dyke [2] , Cheng has developed and progressed well, on his way to  several victories, and continues to grow as a professional driver and international All‐Star.

  • Pacific  Formula 2000

12 Race Season. Runner‐up 2nd place in the Championship. Five wins; two 2nd and three 3rd place podium  finishes. 

  • Scirocco R‐Cup Asia

Finished 7th in the Championship, including 2nd place podium finish at the Merdeka Millenium at Sepang, Malaysia. 

  • American Le Mans Series

 Finished 3rd at Mid‐Ohio in first attempt in the Le Mans Prototype Challenge race.  

  • Formula  Pilota  Masters

Competed in two races, with two 3rd place podium finishes. 

  • Grand Am GT  BMW  M6

Competed in 2011 Rolex 24 hours of Daytona, finishing P21.

2010

12 Race  Season. Runner‐up 2nd place in the Championship. Two Wins, Five 3rd Place Podium Finishes, Four Pole Positions, Five Fastest Race Laps. 

  • American Le Mans Series LMP Challenge 

Testing Program. 

  • 25 Hours of Thunderhill MX‐5 Cup

Won E1 Class by 45 laps, finishing 6th Overall.  

  • BMW Pro3

2 Races. Finished 9th Place and 7th Place. 

2009

Competed in 6 out of 12 Races. Finished 11th in the Championship and won the Rookie of the Year Award; one Rookie of the Race Award; consistent Top Five Finishes.

14 Race Season. Two 2nd Place and one 3rd Place Podium Finishes; one Pole Position; three Fastest Race Laps; one Hard Charger Award.
