About Me

[edit]

My hobbies are music, dance, poetry, and enjoying various versions of pop culture. I especially like songs with metaphorical lyrics that you have to listen to several times to understand the meaning of the lyrics. I see this very prevalent in the Hip Hop genre. In fact, well developed rappers often use the same techniques as poets while writing their lyrics.[1] An artist that I feel delivers really well on this is J. Cole. I also love the production behind these lyrics, especially how the different instruments are mixed to elevate the song. I recently discovered the world of K-pop and fell in love with some groups like ATEEZ, Stray Kids, and P1Harmony. Like a good song, I believe a person should flow with their beat and rhythm. Thanks for visiting my Wikipedia page.

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

I will use Wikipedia in my studies mainly to research. I will also research topics that interest me so I can be informed and well-educated on those topics. I also hope to help develop articles to capture accurate information in an easily digestible language for the general public.

Article evaluation

[edit]

As an immigrant, I am always researching my culture, and tribe to stay informed beyond what my parents have taught me. It is always interesting to see how my tribe is represented in the media. This is why I decided to research my tribe's Language. I visited the Kikuyu language article on Wikipedia and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: Structure, citation, and Grammar.

Structure

[edit]

This article is structured to be easy to read and understand. It not only tells you what the language is and where it is used but also provides some phrases translated into Kikuyu. The article shares details about the regions where the language is spoken and the different dialects within those regions. Although the article mentioned the vowels used in Kikuyu, their importance was not emphasized because the use of these vowels can change the tone and meaning of words, essentially changing the dialect.

Citations

[edit]

Throughout the article, there were links to articles explaining all the new information being shared. This is very useful for readers because it leaves no room for confusion. After clicking on the links, they all worked and they led to current and comprehensive articles. I looked at the reference page and noticed that every reference shared is labeled in numbers which makes it easy to connect them to the correct parts of the article.

Grammar

[edit]

The article used proper English and followed the punctuation rules, so I didn't notice any grammatical errors. It also does a great job using plain English, making it easy for the reader to digest. The article had no bias or informal language because it remained only to share factual information.

Conclusion

[edit]

I would say this is a very well-written article. It is structured to be easy to understand and is constantly updated with relevant information. All the references and links lead to articles that seem reliable, which leads me to believe that the information shared in the article was also reliable. I encourage readers to read this article to learn more about the Kikuyu language.
