VA Pacific Islands Health Care System

The VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) is a United States Department of Veterans Affairs health care organization with 12 main sites of care in Hawaii and across Pacific Islands. These locations include the Spark M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center in Honolulu[1], and eight community based outpatient clinics (CBOC) in Kapolei, Kaneohe, Kona, Hilo, Maui, Kauai, Guam, and American Samoa.

VAPIHCS is associated with the John A. Burns School of Medicine. It provides patient care services as well as education and research. Health care is provided in areas of primary care, women's health, specialty care, mental health services, geriatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, dentistry, and nursing home care.

VAPIHCS does not have an inpatient hospital but has inpatient mental health services, a post-traumatic residental treatment program, and a 60-bed nursing home serving more than 54,000 enrolled Veterans across an 8.5 million square mile geographic area that spans from the Hawaiian islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the COFA states.
