Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic
[edit]The Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic is a professional tennis exhibition singles-only tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. It is held annually in August, right before the US Open, at the Spruce Peak Stadium at the Stowe Mountain Resort in Stowe, Vermont, USA. Eight invited players participate in the tournament in a draw format, playing three matches each over four days to determine the standings from the first place (won all three matches) to the eighth (lost all three matches).
Competition Format
[edit]Eight ATP players will be playing for $35,000 in prize money. The 2018 Stowe Mountain Classic Draw will feature players competing in early-round matches on Sunday and Monday, Semi-finals on Tuesday, and the Championship Match on Wednesday. The draw will take place on Saturday, August 18th, the day before the tournament begins. Two matches between the top half of the draw will take place on the first day of play, Sunday, August 19th. The following first round matches between the bottom half of the draw will take place on, Monday, August 20th. Both semifinal matches will take place on Tuesday, August 21st and the bronze and gold medal match will take place on Wednesday, August 22nd.
History
[edit]The Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic is preceded by the Stowe Open is a defunct Grand Prix affiliated men's tennis tournament played from 1978 to 1983. It was held in Stowe, Vermont in the United States and played on outdoor hard courts.
