Phi Rho Psi, National Color Guard Sorority (ΦΡΨ, colloquially referred to as OPY) is a co-educational social sorority that serves the Collegiate Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard, and Community.
The Sorority, headquartered in Nacogdoches, Texas, was found on September 14, 2009 . Since 2009, Phi Rho Psi has been recognized by national greek organizations, the community, public life as a social Color Guard Sorority that strives to develop an appreciation for Color Guard, to strengthen leadership skills, and to participate in public affairs on campus and in the community.
Sorority Beginnings
[edit]Phi Rho Psi was founded at Stephen F. Austin State University ( by 13 founding mothers, Ebonie Alexander, Kenna Barge, Sara Biggs, Joe Carden, Darin Castillo, Caitlin Connelly Ashley Curtis, Sarah Dubec, Theo Harrison, Victoria McMahon, Robert Palermo, Torian Schauwecker.) The sisterhood started when the initial 13 founding mothers decided that they wanted to start a greek organization that focused on promoting individuals who were in color guard, winter guard, and band. While there was other music related organizations on campus, they felt that there should be one organization that had its main focus on members in the color guard. After a few gatherings, the 13 founding mothers formed Phi Rho Psi. Since the initial founding in 2009, the sorority has grown rapidly and developed into a national organization.
National Headquarters
[edit]Located on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches, Texas. The headquarters National Council carries out the day-to-day operations of the Sorority.
