A Small And Beautiful Village Rabidash
Rabidash is the name of village located in ward no.1 of Kalikamai Rural Municipality.
Kalikamai Rural Municipality is situated in the western part of Birgunj city of Parsa district in Terai region of Nepal. It lies in province no - 2 and Narayani zone of Nepal. Rabidash is 22.2 Km far away from Birgunj city in western part.
The name 'Rabidash' has been derived from two local words, 'Rabi' means 'Sun' and 'dash'
means 'devotee'. Collectively, it has named by the name of a person who was the devotee of sun. In ancient time, most of the people/ inhabitants are of spiritual mindset who usually believe on God and worship them. The forts of this village are separated by land from three sides (east, north and south) and one western side from river named Sikta River. The boundarie/ forts of this village s connected with the villages named Tindoviya in east, Jagarnathpur in West, Mudali in north and Big Gadiyani in south. It's area is about 1.5 square kilometers. The population of this village is about 700 .
The main occupation of this village is agriculture. The soil found here is fertile due to presence of all kinds of minerals having zinc,boron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen, water and other essential minerals has come here different places of Hilly and Himalayan regions through water of Sikta river. About 70 percent of total population are farmers,who grow many kinds of seasonal and non seasonal crops. Farmers mainly grow crops twice in a year. They grow mainly paddy in rainy season ( In Ashadh to Ashoj ) and wheat, barley and pulses like pea,gram,etc and oily crops like mustard (Brassica campestris) , anise, etc in winter season (Kartik to Falgun). They also tame animals like cow, buffalo, etc

for milk,curd,dung, etc, goat for meat and hen ,duck for both meat and egg. They also grow different types of seasonal and non seasonal vegetables like cabbage,cauliflower,tomato, potato,onion,garlic,leafy vegetables, pumpkin, etc for fooding and also to earn money by selling. Among 30% of people are teachers, barbers, JTA,veterinary,mechanics, masons, simple worker working on construction sites, etc.This village is rectangular in shape. There is a river named 'Sikta River' flowing in western part of the village which helps farmers in irrigation the farms/fields during farming or growing the crops. There is a temple of 'Ram janki' , situated in the middle of the village where Hindus people go to worship. The temples of Goddess Satomai, Goddess Baudhimai and Goddess Pathlimai are also situated in western part of village. All these Gods/Goddesses are supposed to be the saver/ protector of village from different types of difficulties or problems. There is a suspension bridge 🌉 on the river , which helps travellers to cross the river. It also recognises this village for its location. Trees like poplars (sisau), simal, mango tree, black berry, etc are found here. About 98% of people are Hindus while only 2% people are are muslim. Here, People of castes Sah ( Kanu, Teli), Ahir (Yadav),Paswan(Dushad), Chaurasiya (Brai), Sharma (lohar) are the inhabitants of this village. There is no any descrimination found between the castes. They help each other in different sectors like as farming, festival, marriage, birthday party and other celebrations also. People of castes Sah and Yadav are the dominant inhabitants of this village. The occupation of Sah is to cook varieties of foods in functions, parties, celebrations and programs whereas the main occupation of Yadav is to tame animals like cow buffalo for milk,curd, ghee, sweets, etc. The environment of this village is neat and clean, peaceful due to presence of different types of plants, trees . It keeps people healthy and fit by producing fresh oxygen by photosynthesis process.
