A little bit about myself: My name is Derek Zhang, and I am a student in the PRISM (Gifted) program at Odle Middle School in WA State. Yes, Middle School. But us here in the PRISM program are much smarter than you think. And yes, that may sound like bragging, I may sound like I'm some insane maniac from a random place in the Solar System, but, I'm just establishing my credibility before I go about editing and creating articles.

I do a few extra-curricular activities, and I like all of them except for......Chinese. Even though technically I am Chinese. What a paradox. But I guess I'm OK at Chinese.

I also play soccer, for the Eastside FC BU-13 C Team. Just to give you an idea of how good (or how bad) our team is, there are three levels of soccer in WA State. Recreational, Select, and Premier. My team and I play Premier soccer, in the WA Regional Club League, the biggest, and the toughest, league in WA State. However, we are in the 4th Division of the BU-13 Age Group of the league. Yea, not so great. So you could say that we are at the bottom of the toughest division in the top flight of WA Youth Soccer. Quite confounding. Anyways, my favorite soccer player is Sergio Ramos, who plays Center-Back (like I do) at Real Madrid CF and the Spanish National Team. And non-coincidentally, my favorite teams are Real Madrid and Spain. And I own two soccer jerseys. Guess which teams those are for? Real Madrid and Spain. And guess whose name is on the back of both of those jerseys? Sergio Ramos. And guess what I'm wearing as I type this right now? My Real Madrid Jersey. Yes. I know. I'm weird. Well, I guess we're all weird in the PRISM Program. Well, at least my rambling ends with the end of the next paragraph. Something good to look forward to in life.

The extra-curricular activity I am most proud of, and that I like the most is chess. Recently, I won 1st place in the U2000 section of the American Open. Two years earlier, I had won first in the U1800 section of the American Open. I am also the highest-rated, and in my opinion, therefore the best, 7th grade chess player in the State of Washington. My USCF Rating is 2066 (Peak 2078), while my FIDE Rating is 1922 (Peak 1922). Recently, I was invited to the Premier Section of the WA State Chess Championships.

Well, I'm done rambling for now! Derek Zhang 2/3/15
