Early Life
[edit]Born in Washington DC, Aaron Phillips [AP] was drawn to music at young age – singing lead vocals in a “Go Go” Band at the age of 15. It was the introduction to Teddy Riley during a local talent show, by a mutual friend – Lacy “King” Davis – that began his career in music as a songwriter/producer.
Collaborating with Teddy Riley – whose personal accolades include Michael Jackson and Guy – they co-wrote the hit Kelly Price record: “Love sets you free” – which went to number 1 on the Gospel Charts and peaked at number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. It wasn’t long before his talent caught the eye of other powerful producers, including Chucky Thompson – the man who honed the sound of artists such as Sean P.Diddy Combs, Mary J Blige and The Notorious BIG.
Management
[edit]It wasn't long before AP was excelling in Music Management - ushering in a number of talented artists. Remaining keen to maintain a low public profile, but a close personal relationship with many of the industry executive elites. During this time, he handled several successful projects – including the work of Mandy Moore, Mary J Blige and Pink. From conception to marketing – his ventures generated over $300 million dollars in revenue for such companies as MCA, Universal Music Group, EMI, Sony BMG, W.E.A and Capital Records.
In 2001 AP spent two years on tour in Europe working with Dante Thomas – following the release of his award winning single “She’s Miss California” – which topped the German Charts and gained him a huge following in other European countries. Subsequently, the album “Fly” ranked Top 10 in the European charts.
2012 brings yet more profile clients, as AP is currently co-executive producing Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated upcoming album. Meanwhile, alongside the CEO of Chameleon Records - Breyon Prescott – he is managing a plethora of promising young talent including the Def Jam recording artist Nikki Williams.
Business
[edit]Recently, Aaron has also turned his attention to brand consultation and imaging with the launch of his company – Diraj Media Group – expected later this year. Calling on his wealth of knowledge, contacts and experience – he is uniquely placed to offer guidance and synergies where appropriate for companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 members.
