Biography

Layla was born in Cairo in 1988 to an Egyptian father and a Scottish mother. She is the eldest of one brother, Adam, and a sister, Sarah. Her interest in psychology started early in her life after watching her parents' dedication and passion towards their job and patients.

Early life

Layla's interest in the field of psychology was fueled by her curiosity about the human mind. She loved sitting in her parents' library and reading books related to psychology as she grew up. She grew up watching her parents work tirelessly to make sure they are giving their hundred percent to each one of their patients. Eventually, she realized that helping people, maybe in a way even better that her parents', was how she envisioned her future becoming.

Marriage and children

  • Ahmed, her husband, is a civil engineer.
  • Her daughter, Hana, is an 6th grader.

Education

Layla graduated from Gulf Internation School in 2006, after which she pursued her undergraduate degree in psychology from Cairo University. After a gap year, she decided to pursue her master's degree in psychology.

Interests and Hobbies

Her hobbies have always changed throughout her life but the only things that always remained constant was her love for reading and tennis.

Awards

In 2018, she was awarded the "Interantional Human Rights" award by the International Council of Psychologists (ICP).
