New article name new article content ... Lynn Acoose, is the Chief of the [Sakimay First Nations[1]], located in the South-East part of Saskatchewan. Ms. Acoose is of Saulteaux[1]/Cree[[2]]/Irish descent. She is the first female chief of Sakimay elected in 2009. Prior to becoming elected Chief. Ms. Acoose held the position of Coucillor for the Sakimay First Nation since July 2007, and assigned the portfolio responsibilities for Governance and Justice and Health and Social Development. Prior to becoming involved in politics, Ms. Acoose was very active in the arts community as a writer. She has also worked as an artist, arts consultant and curator and has held art exhibits at the Dunlop Aet Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan and the Centre for New Media, Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris, France, and the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan[2]. She has an English Literature degree, which she earned from the First Nations University of Canada [3](formerly known as the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College.
