Wikipedia:* namespace: documentation, permissions, comments… what a mess
[edit]I feel that the Wikipedia:* namespace is holding too much, which
- makes it more difficult for me to look up my past contributions in my contributions history, and
- makes page names harder to maintain or remember (with the '/' in the name).
I would like to suggest that new namespaces are added. To make things easier to discuss, I've added subsections below. --Gryllida (talk) 11:16, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
- I think that VPT may be the wrong venue for such a proposal and discussion. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:23, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Request for Permissions:
[edit]Currently under Wikipedia:*. Wikipedia:* is documentation, while requests for permissions are more a talking-thing. --Gryllida (talk) 11:16, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Request for Comments:

Idea: collaborative insight on ideas
[edit]For ideas, like those at the Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab). They ideally need to evolve, be discussed, in a separate article. (Meta already have one-idea-per-page thing in meta:Grants:IdeaLab, under Grants:<Who is grant being requested from (IEG, PEG, etc)>/<Idea name>). --Gryllida (talk) 11:16, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Request for creation: *
[edit]Place to add 1-2 lines and a link, like WP:REQ. --Gryllida (talk) 11:25, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
Help: *
[edit]Place to explain how to
- write articles
- edit articles
- add references
- talk to other people (not a policy listing things forbidden, but a real howto suggesting what are nice things)
- take notes for yourself on your user page
This should be handbook style, not policies.
Some pages from Wikipedia namespace should be moved to Help, or Help namespace should be used more for helping people.
Policy: *
[edit]This should be a place for formal actionable policies, such as deletion policies, content policies, privacy policies.
