Tala is a British lighting company based in London, specialising in the design and production of LED bulbs and decorative light displays.
History
[edit]Tala was founded in 2015 by William Symington, Joshua Ward and Maxwell Wood. They met while studying at the University of Edinburgh, and subsequently worked together on a series of eco projects before settling on the idea for Tala. Tala was founded on the principles of 'conservation through beauty', which underpinned the early design and manufacturing ethos of the business.
Products
[edit]Tala started by producing low-energy LED light sources, and first released the Globe LED bulb to the market in 2015. This was followed by the release of the Voronoi[1] range, which was released at the Design Junction exhibition in London in 2016. This is by far their most
Tala now includes over 25 light sources and over 30 luminaires in their collection.
In 2021, Tala partnered with Farrow & Ball to release their first portable lamp, The Muse, and with designer David Weeks[2] to release the Reflection and Echo ranges.
Stockists
[edit]Tala is stocked in over 100 retail stores worldwide, including John Lewis & Partners, Heal's, The Conran Shop, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and Connox.
Awards
[edit]In 2021, Tala's collaboration with David Weeks on the Reflection Table Lamp designs was the winner and community pick in the Lighting category of the Dwell Design Awards.
