wpPicmark helps tag images and stuff.

Phases of wpPicmark[edit]

wpPicmark works in three phases:

  • 0. This really isn't a phase, but first the user selects which template to use.
  • 1. Post the selected tag to the image page
  • 2. If applicable, post a message to the talk page of the uploader
  • 3. If applicable, post a message to a related process page (e.g., WP:IFD or WP:PUI)

When the required number of phases has completed (the number varies per selected template), the application shuts down.

Layout[edit]

A screenshot
  • 1. The drop-down selection list. All available image-tagging templates, with a brief description, can be selected. Once one is selected, the drop-down box becomes disabled, and the red form appears.
  • 2. The link here indicates to which page text in the textbox will be posted. If you hover over the link, the phase of the template is indicated. (e.g., "Phase 1")
  • 3. The "change" button allows you to change the title of a page. For example, if you want to warn someone other than the uploader, the user talk page location can be changed
  • 4. The content in the textbox will be added to the page indicated by the link. When going through the phases, wpPicmark selects the text that should normally be added; however, you can change it because first, you may need to, and second, all edits must be confirmed (unless you're a bot). For example, if the wikitext of a user talk page is:
Content

other content, and stuff

interesting content

SPAM

If the textbox in wpPicmark has the text

==Bad user==
Don't do that. ~~~~

Upon submitting, the wikitext of the user talk page would look like this:

Content

other content, and stuff

interesting content

SPAM
==Bad user==

Don't do that. [[User:You]] 00:00, 01 January 1970 (UTC)
  • 5. The edit summary. A default one is provided; however, you may change it if you wish.
  • 6. These buttons indicate whether this is a minor edit, and whether you should watch the page. These values can be changed with user preferences.
  • 7. The submit button. When you click it, rest assured that (unless you can't connect to the server) an edit will be made.
  • 8. The skip button either goes to the next phase, or ends the application.

User preferences[edit]

There are a couple of user preference variables. However, Gracenotes is too lazy to document them.
