Patruni Chidananda Sastry[1] is an Indian Expressionist[2] [3]dancer, Performance artist [4] and Drag Queen, born on 25th December from Kharagpur of West Bengal and moved to Hyderabad.[5] Patruni Sastry started performing since 2014.[6]Patruni calls his dance style as “Indian expressionism”.[7] Patruni also co-created styles like Sufiyattam[8] and Pseudo Natyam . He uses dance to talk about subjects such as LGBTQIA issues[9], sexual education[10] and gender equality.[11]He identifies himself as gender fluid.[12]Patruni learnt Classical dance form Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi. Initially started performing as a traditional artist and slowly moved to contemporary art. Patruni also went through training of Butoh under Adam Koan.[13] He created renditions of Butoh called as Butohnatyam.[14]Patruni has given TEDx Talks and was a part of multiple rallies and LGBTQIA+ Protests[15] and transgender rights.[16] [17][18]

Patruni Sastry was vocal about his activism with performance art on the #metoo movement [19] , Legalizing homosexuality [20], Mental Health [21], Menstrual Hygiene[22] [23] and gender issues [24] [25] [26] In 2019 Patruni presented performance art plays named “Four Play”, a performance art piece to bring up issues of gay marriages in India. the performance was an satiate on the Indian marriage rituals and how they reflect the activism for right to marry.[27][28][29] [30]

Sastry also performs as a Drag queen with the name “Mohini D’vi” [31][32]. Patruni carries a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Bankura Unnayani institute of technology and an MBA from Jaipur National University. He also holds a Diploma in Bharatanatyam.
