Goethe: The Poet and The Age is a multiple-volume biography of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe by Nicholas Boyle. The first volume, published in 1991 by Oxford University Press, is entitled Goethe: The Poet and The Age: Volume I: The Poetry of Desire (1749-1790). The second volume is entitled Goethe: The Poet and The Age: Volume II: Revolution and Renunciation, 1790-1803. A third volume is planned.
