Giri Nugraha is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans communication sciences, fine arts, and cultural heritage preservation. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, conducting research from 2016 to 2019 on reproductive health advocacy with Yayasan Gaya Dewata in Bali. This work focused on HIV/AIDS awareness and inclusivity, emphasizing societal transformation.
In 2022, Giri completed a Master’s degree in Fine Art Studies at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Denpasar. His academic research explored the iconography of women in the Sri Tanjung Allegory at Surowono Temple, Kediri, East Java, reflecting his interest in cultural heritage and symbolic narratives.
As the Program Manager and a practitioner at Ilamaia, Giri collaborates with Sabila Darmawan and other practitioners to create a safe sanctuary for self-transformation, incorporating the wisdom of Nusantara. His artistic vision extends internationally through the Abhayagiri project, which connects Java and Sri Lanka through art, technology, and social welfare initiatives.
