Technical

Non-technical

  1. Will we need to build a super-detailed HSN structure for the protocol to carry meaningful information? If we don’t have this, there won’t be any way for buyer-side and seller-side marketplaces to interpret each other’s offerings with standardised semantics. Corollary: will we define attributes of object classes? For instance, price is one attribute. Will we define “capacity_in_GB” to be an attribute for all storage items, and “fabric_type” as attribute for all garments? If we don’t define these things, will it be possible for any search interface to allow faceted searches and search filters across offerings from diverse marketplaces in a meaningful way?
  2. Will ONDC be held responsible if there is a dispute between a buy-side and a sell-side party? What is ONDC’s liability or risk exposure?
  3. What are the types of “bad social behaviour” in this ONDC internet? Will it be acceptable if one marketplace does not let its customers search for offerings on other marketplaces? Is there even any concept of bad social , especiallybehaviour here?
  4. Will there be any legal contract or agreement in place among the marketplaces which connect over ONDC?
  5. Will there be revenue distribution enforced by ONDC for its marketplace members, between buy-side and sell-side marketplaces? (We talked about this a bit in our last call, but a clearer answer may need to be recorded.)
  6. Who will do the customer-support for a retail customer: the buy-side marketplace or the sell-side marketplace? Will the sell-side marketplace, and by extension its seller, get full details of the end-customer on the buy-side? Can the sell-side seller send a mail or SMS one-to-one to the retail buyer on the buy-side?
  7. Follow-up to the above: Who will bear the Counter Party risk? The buyer has no contract with the seller platform. The seller has no idea what buyer platform was used. (Sanjeev).
  8. Will the sell-side price being offered be passed on as-is to the buy-side end-customer? Will the buy-side marketplace be allowed to add a markup? Will we allow the buy-side marketplace to mark up/down the price coming in from the sell-side marketplace?
  9. There are a dozen questions about fulfilment and logistics -- I’m not even enumerating them here. If fulfilment remains with the sell-side marketplace or end-seller, how will customer support be done for non-delivery, returns, etc?
  10. Ratings: will “foreign” retail customers be allowed to post feedback, reviews and ratings for my sellers?
  11. How is the infrastructure funded ? Are there ONDC-specific "public" components to the infrastructure ?
