"The Long Highway" is a song written and recorded by British rock musician Mark Knopfler. It was probably created during the time of the Dire Straits, but was not published before and only live versions existed. It was released on September 4, 2000 as part of the single release "What It Is" from his second solo studio album Sailing to Philadelphia (2000).

Release
[edit]There were only live versions of the song until the release, which were probably recorded during Dire Straits concerts. The final studio version was recorded by Mark Knopfler alone, as part of his solo career, which began after the band split up.
