Geographic Accountant, just a user that loves BOTH Geography and Accounting!

I am inspired by the fact that all the National routes, Provincial routes & Regional routes in South Africa, as well as all the Inter-Territorial & Territorial Roads in Zambia, have articles on Wikipedia at the moment (April 2024)! I have stayed in both Nations and know a lot about both of them, which is why I am here!

I am interested in anything "Geographic" about my region of Southern Africa, whether it is articles about towns, cities, districts, trade corridors, national parks, rivers, roads, railways, infrastructure, democratic elections, etc!

Wiki Work

[edit]

Occupation

[edit]
  • Routinely checking any article which has information I know of and adding or fixing content.
  • Creating articles for any "geographical feature" (road, airport, city, etc) that I believe may have an article on Wikipedia.
  • Checking the articles under the "Roads in Zambia" and "Roads in South Africa" categories and making sure only correct information is indicated, while giving chance to any neighbouring countries where I believe the road network articles can be improved.
  • Checking any articles regarding Political Geography in Zambia such as Districts of Zambia and the List of Zambian parliamentary constituencies.
  • Checking any articles regarding towns, cities, districts, municipalities, provinces, etc in South Africa.

Current Projects

[edit]

Past Projects

[edit]

Articles Created

[edit]

Articles Deleted

[edit]
  • Chilinda District - It was a proposed "District of Zambia" but the article was created without the district ever actually being created (there were no sources apart from a mention in the Zambian Parliament); So, the district does not exist.
  • R718 (South Africa) - There is no single road in South Africa which has been designated with this route number.

Time on Wikipedia & any Issues arising

[edit]

The one problem I seem to have with Wikipedia is its "Notability Strictness", which has negatively affected the way some of us are doing our "hobby" of editing Wikipedia. But I really appreciate myself for everything done "so far" & even anything "yet to come".

I am happy with the work done so far on this website by both Chils Kemptonian & GeographicAccountant in terms of attending to the articles about "Roads in South Africa" & "Roads in Zambia" primarily, either by "Expanding the articles" (adding "route sections" & describing the entire route) or "Creating the articles" (if they do not exist yet; & then expanding them)! I am happy that I was able to make most of these articles qualify for the "Stub" tag to be removed!

There are a lot of road articles, such as R82 (South Africa), N12 (South Africa), N11 (South Africa), R34 (South Africa), N4 (South Africa), R33 (South Africa), M4 (Durban), M9 (Cape Town) & many more where these two Users added the "Route" section in order to explain the route from start to finish! There are also a lot of road articles which were created by these two users, such as T2 road (Zambia), T3 road (Zambia), M10 road (Zambia) & M10 (Pretoria).

Chils Kemptonian created the article about the new airport in Ndola (Copperbelt International Airport) as well as the Olifantsfontein article. Chils Kemptonian also added the "Route" and "Developments" sections to the Beira–Lobito Highway article.

It has been fun coming to Wikipedia and doing my best to advance "road articles" & other articles & making sure that anything I know is false or inappropriate is removed from those articles. I will try to continue this activity, whether it is "expanding articles" or simply checking articles for wrong information.

Unfortunately, creating articles will be rarely done again due to the stated "Notability Strictness" that Wikipedia has. An article will be "disqualified" from having an article on Wikipedia just because the "news" (Newspapers & Websites) does not talk much about it & "acceptable citations proving existence" are very-few for the same article subject (& also because of the "Primary Source vs Secondary Source" debate)! I know a lot of features (Buildings; Roads; Towns) which I believe deserve to have articles on Wikipedia but those articles will not be created just because of the rule. So, I only come to this website to look at "already-existing articles" & I just sit here hoping that somebody manages to create all the articles that I am believing will not be allowed if I try to create them.

Oh well, I do my best to try & enjoy this "committed hobby" that I have on Wikipedia. From the time Chils Kemptonian was created in January 2018, I have been hyperactive on this website & I love what I do. Cheers.
