User:Geo Swan/working/Guantanamo articles I started

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These were my rough notes

[edit]

These are, or were, my rough notes, which I used, up until a few months ago, to keep track of the articles I started on Guantanamo related topics. I used these notes mainly to keep track of the captive's names, because different press reports transliterate the names all kinds of ways, and I found that I had written duplicate articles about several individuals merely because I had come across new references that spelled their names differently. An annoying waste of time.

I leave my rough notes here, because I have no hidden agenda, and I have no reason not to conduct my work in the open. Originally, I didn't intend other wikipedians to consult this. But I am going to list it in a comment on a {{cfd}} forum because the nominator keeps leveling these really ugly accusations at me.

This nominator had concerns about the subcateogries I started in order to aid my work creating list articles around the Guantanamo captives. When I tried to engage him or her in a civil dialogue he nominated the categories for deletion.

He or she accused me of starting articles to support the categories they were concerned about. I only started those categories about two months ago. Five percent of the articles about Guantanamo captives were created by other Ten to twenty percent of them I started in 2005. I started most or rest of the articles in 2006, mostly in the four months following the March 3 2006 release of the transcripts from their Combatant Status Review Tribunals and Administrative Review Board hearings.

I started the categories to support the articles, not vice versa. And I do my utmost to comply with WP:NPOV. I don't expect to succeed 100% of the time. But I do expect any respondents who notice what they regard as a lapse to express their concern in a civil, specific fashion.

More recently I use: User:Geo Swan/working/total official names as of May 15. Geo Swan 21:21, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
