Jessica and Julie Castillo perform with their group, the Castillo Kids, at Guantanamo, in 2015.

The Castillo Kids are an American musical group.[1] The four members are all teenagers, with the oldest, Joey Castillo being born in 1996. Kirkland Jackson, joined his neighbors Joey, Jessica and Julie Castillo to form the band, who perform Mexican songs, and popular songs performed in a Mexican style.

The group has been seen on various nationwide TV shows.[2] In 2013 Billy Dukes of Taste of Country reported the group had been appeared on both Oprah Winfrey and Rachel Ray. In 2015 Christopher Garibay, a public affairs official at Guantanamo, reported that they had performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the George Lopez Show and Good Morning America.[1] Garibay noted that the group's performance of Let it Go, the hit from the Disney film Frozen, played in a Mexican style, was a particular favorite with younger members of the audience.

In 2008, when the groupmembers weren't yet teenagers themselves, the website RedOrbit listed them as an example of a kid-friendly act parents could recommend to their children on "Youth Tube" web sites that were safer for children than YouTube.[3]

Joey plays the Saxophone, Jessica plays the guitar, Julie plays the violin, and Kirkland Jackson plays the vihuela.[1]

Garibay noted that Jessica Castillo had recently returned from performing in Japan, and that the group's trip to Guantanamo, technically Cuban soil, entitled all the group members to consider themselves "international performers".[1]
