- Justice delayed and justice denied in Bowe Bergdahl verdict
- Deserter Bowe Bergdahl Gets NO JAIL TIME for Abandoning Post – These 6 Dead Soldiers Had No Say in the Decision
The prosecution called witnesses who claimed they were wounded as a consequence of Bowe Bergdahl (Talk:Bowe Bergdahl) going AWOL.
A few (fringe?) news sites claimed 6 men died. But then why didn't the prosecution cite those deaths, during his sentencing?

That's apparently not the case, Koenig writes. She says the investigation reports for all six make no mention of Bergdahl nor of the shorthand code for a missing soldier ("DUSTWUN").

Chances are you haven't heard of the six soldiers who died hunting for him after he went missing, according to military officials. Now that Bergdahl has been sprung—in exchange for five senior Taliban officials, who had been imprisoned at Guantanamo—soldiers who served with Bergdahl are grumbling that he deserted and shouldn't be hailed as a hero, especially given the resulting cost in American lives.

The lives of six soldiers were sacrificed in attempts to find an accused deserter, and five Taliban commanders were later released from Guantanamo Bay and given to the Taliban in exchange for Bergdahl. It sounds like a script Rod Serling would narrate, yet it is really just a microcosm of President Obama's military strategy, or lack thereof.

Some soldiers have gone so far as to say the six died while searching for Bergdahl. Others say he is indirectly to blame -- after Bergdahl vanished, essentially every operation became a mission to find their lost colleague in one way or another, they say.

While many questions remain, a Reuters reconstruction of his disappearance indicates that at the time when Bergdahl's six comrades in the 1st Battalion of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment were killed in August and September 2009, his fallen comrades were on other missions like securing the Afghan elections and, according to one U.S. military official, the period of intensive ground searches had already ended.
