My group is going to be editing and improving the page on Oralism. It does not have an adequate amount of information, and what is there is not complete. It doesn't show how oralism fits into the bigger picture of deaf education. We plan on ensuring that proper citations are in place, adding information about how it compares and contrasts with other models of deaf education, and presenting a more well-rounded view of the topic. Part of our plan for doing this is to include concrete results regarding the linguistic and academic outcomes in deaf individuals taught via oralism, as the page fails to provide evidence such as this. Another consideration we will mention in the article is how the language acquisition and skills of deaf individuals taught orally are actually compared to hearing individuals, as these comparative measures are paramount to gaining a full understanding of how the two groups compare.
