Garan Shaw ,was born March XX, 19XX in Durango, Colorado. Through his early childhood he showed an inclination for farm and ranch operations and music. At the age of 14 he successfully reproduced a historical model of the Rio Grande Southern train “Galloping Goose” and his work was inducted into the Galloping Goose Historical Museum where it still resides as a display. Throughout his adolescence he was very active in politics with his family becoming well known to local and state leaders, which later led to many friends in the political field throughout the southwestern United States. During his high school career at M-CHS he was able to become the youngest Business Manager / Advertising Editor for the HS newspaper Panther Press that had a circulation of 9,000 local and international subscribers. He was hired in 2000 to be the Editor-in-chief of the Panther Press and that year the he and the editorial team took the newspaper to the state finals and won newspaper of the year for Colorado as well as Advertising, Layout, Design, News Story, and Special Feature Awards. In 2001 Garan was one of the youngest delegates to be elected to the Republican State Delegation where he had the opportunity to learn first hand the democratic process. Upon graduation with honors from Montezuma Cortez High School he attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. Throughout his college career Garan participated numerous organizations including Financial Allocations Board Director, Student Senate ambassador to Wombli Ota (largest club on campus for Native Americans) Student Union Construction and Advisory Authority, PR Director for College Republicans and Westerners Club to name a few. After graduating with a degree in Mass Communications with an emphases in Public Relations he started GDS Computing Solutions a small home and office IT service provider.
