The 2011 East Devon District Council election took place on 5 May 2011 as part of the 2011 United Kingdom local elections to elect members to East Devon District Council. Control of the council was retained by the Conservative Party who won an overall majority of seats in the election.
Council composition
[edit]Between the 2007 and 2011 council elections, four wards held by-elections:
- In April 2008, a by-election in Dunkeswell ward resulted in a Conservative hold.[2]
- In February 2009, a by-election in Honiton St Michael's ward resulted in a Liberal Democrat gain from the Conservatives.[3]
- In November 2009, a by-election in Trinity ward resulted in a Conservative gain from Independent.[4]
- In May 2010, a by-election in Seaton ward resulted in a Liberal Democrat hold.[5]
