View from the top
[edit]The information panel at the top informs visitors, who reach it, which towns, villages and cities are visible from the top on a clear day, as well as the 5 power stations and 12 wind turbines. It has been claimed that is it possible to see the Minster at York from the top - this would require an exceptionally clear day and binoculars.
Also visible from the top are several of the other Wentworth follies, the Rockingham Mausoleum 1.5 kilometres South-southeast, Needles Eye 1 kilometre West-Northwest and Keppels Column 4 kilometres South-southwest.
More closeby (approx 300 metres East) the Hoober Observatory of Mexborough & Swinton Astronomical Society can be seen.
