Art Exhibitions
[edit]Exhibitions; David Alekhuogie has attended multiple art exhibitions, the first one being in September 8 - October 21, 2017 at the Them boys Art Exhibition. The exhibition was held at the Redling Fine Art center at 1989 Blake Ave, 90039. The Them Boys art Exhibition had a focus on the theme of over policing over the communities of color. His photo shoots are all composed of a close up of a shirt with over a pair of under garments and pants. His works there focused mostly on the symbolism behind the flash of underwear as that style has been associated with "undesirables" of society (Meaning those typically placed under arrest by police force). Alekhuogie's goal was to expose the "racial and gendered politics" behind the clothing and bring a sort of beauty to behind the messaging. Often times his works would be composed in a manner that made the clothing appear as a nice scenic view.
His second event was at The High Museum of Art in Atlanta Georgia. This even lasted from November 4, 2017 - May 22, 2018. the works found in this gallery were representations of the ethnopolitical climates between varying groups of people, taking much inspiration from the Martin Luther King (MLK) Civil Rights Movement movement. Alekuogie's works in this gallery served as juxtaposition with modern day photography teaching viewers of tales from the past
