Bruno Barbieri (Medicina, January 12 1962) is an italian cook, TV personality and restaurateur.
Biography
[edit]In 1979 he get the chance to work as second cook on cruise ships and so to discover culinary cultures from different countries. After a year and a half he returns in Italy and begins to work in little locals of coast of Romagna as Chef de Partie. He attends specialization courses also in foreign countries and, after some time, he goes to work to Locanda Solarola of Castel Guelfo; the restaurant gain for two consecutives years two Michelin stars. So he goes to Il Trigabolo restaurant of Argenta (FE) under the guide of Igles Corelli (defined by Barbieri his only master[1]), assisted by Giacinto Rossetti and Mauro Gualandi. In the Nineties also the latter wins the prestigious acknowledgment of two Michelins stars.
The chef then opens the Arquade restaurant in Villa del Quar-Relais & Châteaux Hotel of San Pietro in Cariano (VR). The local appears on gastronomic guides of 2006 with two Michelin stars, while Gambero Rosso indicate it with three forks. In July 2010 Barbieri decides to left Arquade's kitchens to move to Brazil.
In 2011, thanks to his six Michelin stars, two at Il Trigabolo of Argenta, two at Locanda Solarola of Castel Guelfo and two at Arquade of San Pietro in Cariano) he's the italian chef with the highest number of this type of acknowledgment[2].
Author of numerous books, among which one of 2007 dedicated to gluten-free cuisine (Squisitamente senza glutine), he's protagonist of successful TV programs for Gambero Rosso Channel and collaborator of various radio channels. From 2011 he's one of the judges of culinary program MasterChef Italia (aired on Sky Uno), with Joe Bastianich, Carlo Cracco and from 2015 with Antonino Cannavacciuolo while in 2017 edition with also Antonia Kluggmann. From 2013 to 2016 he was a part of Junior Masterchef Italia jury and from 2017 he's judge of Celebrity MasterChef Italia.
In March 2012 he opens, in London, the Cotidie restaurant, which however leave to Marco Tozzi Chef due to excessive work commitments[3].
For 2015-2016 TV season he's correspondent of Rai 2 in the football program Quelli che il calcio, so he follows matchs of Bologna, but he's great fan of Inter. In 2016 he opens in Bologna a new bistrot, the Fourghetti[4].
He lives in Reggio Emilia[5].
