Official Government Sites

[edit]

[1] This will be used to explain Salma Zahid's involvement in various committee's during the 42nd Parliament; specifically, her involvement in the Status of Women, Citizenship and Immigration, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, Scrutiny of Regulations, and Public Accounts committees.

[2] This is the official Federal Election 2019 Results in the Scarborough Centre district, which will be used to display that Zahid once again won the election in her riding.

News Articles

[edit]

[3] This news article has a lot of information about Zahid's life when she moved to Canada before she entered politics. Her riding in Scarborough Centre is very diverse and many of the challenges faced by newcomers were experienced by Zahid as well. I will use this article to add information on Zahid's early life and her campaign in the 2015 Federal Election.

[4] This article by CBC News is a good source to explain how Zahid has triple citizenship- she holds Canadian, U.K., and Pakistani citizenships. Zahid is a great supporter of diversity within Parliament; however, many other politicians believe that elected officials should only hold a Canadian citizenship, so that their loyalties are not divided.

Interviews

[edit]

[5] This interview with Zahid in 2017 will be used to provide insight on her early life before politics, including her reasons for entering politics and her experience immigrating to Canada. This interview also has her educational experience- Zahid has two masters degrees, one in Business Management and the other in Educational Management. The current WIkipedia page on Salma Zahid does not have correct information as it states that she only completed one masters degree, so this article will be useful in correcting that.

[6] This article labels Zahid as the "Queen of Doorknocking" during the 2019 Federal Election campaign. Zahid's team knocked on every door in her riding, and when her knuckles would hurt, she would knock on doors with a pen. I will use this article to provide some information on the 2019 campaign. I will also use this article to explain that this was Zahid's first time campaigning since her diagnosis of cancer.

Websites

[edit]

[7] This website explains Zahid's stance on controversies such as abortion & euthanasia. As part of the Liberal party, Zahid is in favour of abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia, and the inclusion of gender identities to the list of prohibited grounds of discrimination. This webpage is from a national pro-life organization.
