Einstein Lived Here is a collection of eleven essays and articles by Abraham Pais that was published in 1994 by Clarendon Press. The book serves as a companion volume for Pais' biography of Einstein, Subtle is the Lord, which was published in 1982.
Background
[edit]Some of the articles included in the book were previously published in American Scientist in the 1980s while two sections of the book are taken directly from Subtle is the Lord.[1] The title of the book comes from a cartoon that appeared in the wake of Einstein's death.[2]

Reception
[edit]The book was reviewed by Roger Highfield,[3] Philip Morrison,[4] and Engelbert Schücking,[5] among several others.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] The book was also reviewed in Publishers Weekly[1] and was reviewed in The New York Times by Robert Kanigel.[2]
The review in Publishers Weekly wrote that Pais is "arguably Einstein's best interpreter" and then quickly summarized the book and closed by stating: "The great figure in 20th century science that Pais depicts here seems more his own personal icon than Einstein the man."[1]
