If we need to plan collaboration, here's a page for it.

Okay, I will look for more sources at chinadaily.com.cn, globaltimes.cn and gasgoo.com later. I don't know if there's much else to add :P Fleetham (talk) 06:44, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I hope I didn't do too much and find everything there is to be found. That's not collaboration! And I did add some links to possible references, but don't feel compelled to write prose for them if you'd rather not. I don't want to "collaborate" by telling you what to do :) Fleetham (talk) 19:29, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

No, no, I think what you're doing is great. And I agree with your thoughts on the electric vehicle section. Most Chinese car makers claim do be developing/trialing/or even releasing electric cars and the details about them are changing all the time. It's pretty ridiculous. The only exception I can think of is the BYD e6. --Pineapple Fez 22:43, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it will be sold in LA or so BYD hopes. BYD may have found its niche in the American market. It can't compete with engined vehicles, surely not. You can buy a famous-name car here for USD10K, no way BYD can significantly surpass that product, and no way to compete on price because of safety and emissions regulations. The Geely LC, sold in its home market as the Geely Panda, is a Chinese hatchback launched in 2009. In 2010 the LC scored 45.3 in C-NCAP crash tests,[2] making it China's first[2][5] locally researched and developed compact car to be awarded a 5-star rating,[5][6] and is subsequently the safest Chinese hatchback[2][5] as of 2011.[7]

As of 2011, this car is popular among Chinese yuppies.[8][9]

Online sale

[edit]

As of 22 December 2010,[10] popular Chinese e-commerce retailer Taobao Mall sells the LC online[3][11] although buyers must put down a 288 yuan deposit and visit a local dealership for a test drive prior to purchase.[1] The LCs on offer are not delivered to your door[12] and may differ from those available through more-traditional retail channels.[9][13]

First day online sales totalled near 500.[14]

Styling

[edit]

The LC's styling has been recognized for it's exceptional exterior,[15][16] which manufacturer Geely says is "bionic"[2] and resembles a panda[15] but that some criticize for resembling the Toyota Aygo,[17][18] instead.

Overseas sale

[edit]

A Taiwanese version is sold under a different brand name in that nation, and the LC may sell in Indonesia as well.

Tobe M'car

[edit]

A rebadged, redesigned LC called the Tobe M’Car is sold in Taiwan[19] by Yulon Motors,[19] which may also assemble it. The M'car uses the same body and interior as the LC, but features improved performance[4] and locally designed components.[20]
