Open Access in Democratic Republic of the Congo; Researchers from Democratic Republic of the Congo publish articles in international Open Access journals, for example, in 2013, 31 articles have been published with BioMed Central – an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher which has pioneered the Open Access publishing model – and among them there are highly accessed articles by researchers from Université de KinshaJournal of the Eritrean Medical Associationsa, Programme National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PNLP), Kinshasa General Hospital (HGK), Institut National de Statistique, Kinshasa School of Public Health, Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale (INRB), Kinoise Clinic, Malteser International, Pediatric Hospital Kalembe Lembe and Ministry of Health. 85 articles have been published in Public Library of Science (PLoS) international Open Access journals: PLoS ONE, PLoS Biology, PLoS Medicine and PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases.

There are currently no OA policies registered in ROARMAP.

There is one OA journal indexed in African Journals Online (AJOL): Annales Aequatoria. However, the journal ceased publication in 2010. It covers a wide range of subjects; African Linguistics, Cultural Anthropology, Literature in Bantu languages, History, Archaeology etc. Former issues of Aequatoria (1937-1962) and Annales Aequatoria (1980-1999) are available as open access.
