OUTLINE

[edit]

Lead Section

Deficiencies of Conventional Frog Design: This section will discuss the design and physics which lead to the rapid deterioration of conventional frogs.

Design of Flange Bearing Frogs: This section will cover the basic principles and design of flange bearing frogs (FBF's), and will examine how these design changes counteract the deficiencies in the conventional frog design.

Implementation and Results: This section will include information on the implementation of FBF's, in both turnouts and diamonds, and the results that have been observed therein.
