I believe in the long-term potential of Wiki, not measured in the scope of my lifetime but that of my grandchildren and beyond. The potential is astounding, and although Wiki will go through many guises the basic spirit will hopefully always remain. With that in mind, I do not believe in limiting Portals or Projects, but rather trying to guide a framework that will absorb future expansion easily and without major re-working of the basic structure.
Portals are for people, WikiProjects are for developers. In my thought, the Portals should be designed to be user friendly. The talk pages should deal with content of the Portal, and people should be encouraged to add content, edit content, and add new links to the Portal on fringe subjects. WikiProjects should discuss the structure of the project, figuring out the logic behind categorizations, and helping to steer Portals towards a similiar end as the master Portal or similiar Portals.
