[edit]Étymologie
[edit]The name Breuil is a Franco-Provençal toponym that indicates a marshy Alpine terrace. It is also a toponym from the Gaulish brogilo, designating a fenced wood, a wooded grazing enclosure.[2][3] The people who bore these names had houses in the vicinity of a breuil which could constitute a seigneurial game reserve.[4]
