Lawrence H. O'Neill was, in 1968, Professor of Engineering at Columbia University. While a professor there, he served as the founding President of the Riverside Research Institute located from 1967 to April 1990. The institute was located at Columbia University's Sheffield Hall at 125th Street in Manhattanville.
Riverside Research Institute
[edit]- Formerly Electronics Research Laboratories, Riverside Research was a nuclear laboratory that conducted both military and medical research. In government docments, Riverside Institute is referred to as "Compoany L."

He was also Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology (Ophthalmic Physics) at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He was a research pioneer in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic applications of ultrasound.

- John F. Bose (died May 29, 1985), educator and electrical engineer; associate professor at the Columbia Engineering School. Worked for the Riverside Research Institute's (previously known as Electronics Research Laboratories for more than 20 years. He worked closely with Major Edwin H. Armstrong, the inventor of FM radio, until the Major's death in 1953. Co-inventor of the dual channel FM modulator. Received the Armstrong Medal in 1959, and was a founder of the Federal Scientific Corporation in 1957.
- James Michael Kennedy (died on Nov. 12, 2009). In 1955, he joined the staff of the Columbia University Electronics Research Laboratories (CUERL) as a mathematical analyst. He continued his employment at Riverside Research Institute (RRI), the successor of CUERL, where he served as executive vice president. He retired from RRI in December 1995, after 40 years of service.
