Introduction to: "Erasmus von Colbaz"

Erasmus von Colbaz is one of my oldest Genetic and Historical Family Members who arrived 1325 at the Cisterciensian Abbey and Monastery of Colbaz as "Migrant Farmer in search for uncultivated Eastern European Farmland" being leased by the Catholic Monastery in South of Greifenhagen (Gryfino, Poland today) to Free, Non-Serfdom but Taxed Landowners (Zins-Farmer = Leaseholders) to cultivate 4 Hufen (= 200 acres) partial woodland into productive Agricultural Land for 12% of the Harvest to be delivered to the Monastery. They had no other Duties towards the Landowner (The Church) and were therefore regarded as "Free Farmers".

His real name was Erasmus without any known Surname and he was educated at the Monastery in reading, writing and basic math plus agricultural skills to be able to run the farming business successfully.

Since then all the following generations were intensely educated in reading, writing and math at Home, and the Family became a central social and professional force in the Village community, with their offspring spreading with their knowledge into other surrounding villages partially taking up other skilled Craftsmanship serving respectably in their communities. Later Generations found Legal support-ways to resist nearly without violence the political dispossession of Free Farmers by the ruling Feudal Society, because "Free Farmers" had still secured Stately Rights as Non-Serfdom Farmers. And the "literate" successors of Erasmus used Royal Laws to fend off the Feudal Land-grabbers in the early 16th Century.

This social-educational habit in my family branch led to the effect, that, as of 1770, many secondary born (Non inheritance) Sons (and some later Daughters in the 19th century) were educated at the so-called Latin-schools and became village-school-teachers (14 in 5 Generations right into the 20th Century Establishing the so called "Teacher Branch" of my Family.

To honor these traditional principles in our family, and being myself partially engaged in social and educational activities besides being a horticultural engineer and Restorer of Historic Gardens, I decided to install the Name of my skilled and knowledgeable early Ancestor: 'Erasmus' and his historic Provenance as my Wikipedia 'User-Name', in the Hope to achieve similar recognition without having to uncover my real Family-Name. My living relatives may be able to 'Uncode' the name in the knowledge of our common Family History, if they come across the above Historic excerpt, but I trust, they will have no interest in lifting the Veil for the sake of their own privacy; particularly at a time, where you can loose your valued Privacy, Dignity and essential Material Life-Basics quicker than you can change your Set of Passwords on your IT-Systems.
