New Beaux-Arts architecture is a contemporary (early 21st century) interpretation of Beaux-Arts architecture. Richardson Robertson III of the architecture firm Robertson Partners applies the name "New Beaux Arts" to his work, which is a reaction against modern architecture, which rarely exude a sense of place. The New Beaux-Arts style harkens back to a time when buildings were lavishly ornamented and exhibited classic features of ancient Greek architecture. The original Beaux-Arts style was popular in the United States from around 1885 until 1920. It largely disappeared since then, but has arisen recently, though it is too early to tell if this style will take off or will be fleeting.
