"The Indian Potentate" is the 193rd episode of the television series The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, which premiered on the CBS network on October 12, 1950
Plot
[edit]Act One
[edit]While staying at a hotel Gracie and Blance hear the manager mention thier is a real Indian Maharajah staying at the same hotel. They are excited and starts to wonder what he looks like. They catch the manager and try to get information about The Maharajah.
The servant brings The Maharajah's daughter, Myia, her coat as she is getting ready to leave on a date with Ronnie Burns, whom she met in the elvator. They are taking a drive in the park. The Maharajah gets into the elevator as do this older women and Gracie and Blance. Gracie and Blance are still dicussing wanting to see The Maharajah, not knowing he is behind them. They think The Maharajah is really the servant and they think he has forty wives. The Maharajah is laughing at what they are saying and when they get to the 22nd floor they get out as does The Maharajah and he tries to explain but they think he is just some sort of traveling salesman who is flirting with them. Gracie then accuses the older lady as being his wife, not knowing she is just another hotel guest. They then go into their hotel room.
Act Two
[edit]Ronnie and Myia are driving in the park and he likes her car and she wants to give him her caras they do in India. They get to know one another as they drive around.
Gracie and Blance are still wanting to see The Maharajah, so they go to the elevator and Gracie says she forgot her suitcase in her room so she wants the elevator boy to get it for her. When he does they both rush into the elevator and go up to he 28th floorand they see the servant, whom they still think is The Maharajah, and then they rush back up to their own floor.
Act Three
[edit]In their hotel room Gracie and Blanche have now gotten Harry Von Zell involed and Gracie suggests going up to the 29th floor and tying a rope around Harry and lowing hm down. Harry suggests going to a costume shop and buying costumes to look like one of The Maharajah wife's, but Blanche doesn't think it will work and Gracie goes back to her rope idea, but this time with Blanch instead of Harry. Blanche goes back to the costume idea. They ask Harry to go with them, but he doesn't want to get involved.
George and Harry Morton are talking because Ronnie invited Myia and The Maharajah to dinner, but George doesn't know how to, but Harry explains how to. George sees the girls and Harry Von Zell get into the elevato in their cotumes and they decided to join them and talking flattering about the "Indian Women." The elevator boy tells George their wives went out with Harry Von Zell and George threatens to fire him if he's mixed up in one of their schemes. The guys get out of the elevator and the girls go up to the 28th floor. As they get out of the elevator they see Ronnie and wonder how he got up there. The servant realizes thier trick and make them get back in the elevator.
In the hotel the guys and girls get ready as they are going to have diner with The Maharajah. The first to arrive isthe servant and everyone still thinks he is The Maharajah. The doorbell rings again and The Maharajah, but Gracie thinks he is that salesman. Ronnie is behind him and tells them he is The Maharajah and that the other guy is his servant. Another person enters and tells him that they caught a member of his party on the floor ad bringing him to The Maharajah for punishment. In comes Harry Von Zell. The Maharajah tell them that guy doesn't work for him and George fires him but comes back up and they all go down staris for dinner.
