Arts Talk with the Johnson Brothers is a weekly American radio show hosted by Duane Johnson and Dennis Johnson on Blogtalkradio[1], an internet-based service. The show developed from an idea Duane (a visual artist) had years ago involving making video interviews of artists. He contacted his brother Dennis (theatre actor/director/playwright) to co-host with him and expanded the guests to include actors, musicians, writers, dancers and other creative individuals. Their first episode aired on January 17, 2011 with guest artist Sean Starwars a woodcut printmaker from Mississippi and member of the Outlaw Printmakers. Other guests have included artist/musician Tressie Seegers who is the founder of the Austin Harmony Project in Austin, Texas; filmmaker James Christopher co-founder, director and scriptwriter for Austin based film company Twitchy Dolphin Flix; entertainer Robbie Rist; musician Seth Gordon of the Mockers; actor Keith Coogan and many others. For the most part Arts Talk with the Johnson Brothers interviews individuals respected in their field but not always well known to people outside of their area.
Interviews on Arts Talk with the Johnson Brothers are created as a means of academic study as teachers and professors can use the interviews as means to introduce an artist, musician, actor, or writer to their students so that the students can hear about that person's creative process through their own words. Podcasts of each episode are available for free on ITunes.[2]
