The A-theory of time, also called the "tensed theory of time", is one of two positions regarding the temporal ordering of events in the philosophy of time. A-theorists argue that the present is in some way ontologically privileged, i.e., that it has a special status among other temporal concepts like the past and the future. Tense and temporal becoming have an objective reality according to the A-theory of time.[1]

The A-theory is closer to the common view of time most people envision and is seen in theories such as presentism.
