Wikipedia is large and complex enough that everyone eventually has questions. For those who are new to Wikipedia, there are often questions about how to research with Wikipedia, or how to proceed with basic editing. For more experenced Wikipedians, questions regarding policy and more advanced editing may arise. This page hopes to serve as a guide to the appropriate places to ask questions and find answers.
This page is only a guide, and any questions posted here will be removed.
Good places to ask questions
- The reference desk for general questions. e.g."What is the capital of South Africa?"
- The help desk for questions about using Wikipedia. e.g. "How do I add an image to an article?"
- The newcomers help page for help with rules, guidelines, etc. e.g. "What is the three revert rule?"
- For most questions it's faster to do a search in the search box. For example, type 'south africa' into the box and click Search.
Other places to ask questions
- Each article has a talk page — click on the article's discussion link at the top of the page — for questions, reporting vandalism or discussions about the article.
- The village pump is the place for technical and policy issues.
