The 2025 Virginia Tech Hokies football team represented Virginia Tech in the 2025 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the Southeastern Conference. The team was led by in his second year as Virginia Tech head coach.
The Hokies finished the regular season undefeated for the first time since 1999 before defeating Tennessee at the SEC Championship Game to claim their first Southeastern Conference championship only one season after joining the conference. By winning the championship, Virginia Tech earned their first College Football Playoff appearance via an automatic bid. The Hokies then fell to eventual playoff champions Clemson in an all-SEC quarterfinal at the Sugar Bowl.
Following the season, senior quarterback Kyron Drones became the first player in program history to win the Heisman Trophy.

The 2026 Virginia Tech Hokies football team represented Virginia Tech in the 2026 NCAA Division I FBS football season as a member of the Southeastern Conference. The team was led by in his third year as Virginia Tech head coach. The Hokies entered the season as the defending Southeastern Conference champions and repeated as champions after upsetting Georgia at the SEC Championship Game.
This was the first season that the Southeastern Conference used a divisional format since Virginia Tech joined along with Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Miami for the 2024 football season. Virginia Tech earned their second consecutive SEC Championship Game appearance by winning the North division with a 7–2 conference record.
By winning the conference championship, the Hokies earned an automatic bid to the 2026 College Football Playoff, where they were given the top seed and will face LSU in an all-SEC quarterfinal at the Orange Bowl.

The 2024 Auburn Tigers football team represents Auburn University during the 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers are led by first-year head coach ? in their 131st season overall, and 91st season as members of the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers play their home games at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers began the season 2–2, and 0–2 in conference play, after September losses against Ole Miss and Arkansas. However, the team rebounded with a four-game winning streak that included back-to-back home wins against rivals and top-ten ranked Georgia and Tennessee before falling to rivals LSU in overtime at Tiger Stadium. Auburn rose as high as eighth in the College Football Playoff rankings after defeating Texas A&M, then ranked ninth, in a shutout victory on November 23. On November 30, the team will face arch-rivals Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where the winner is widely expected to be guaranteed a place in the inaugural twelve-team playoff.
