About Me
Hello! My name is Gopi Sheth. I am a filmmaker, IT Security Expert, entrepreneur, and community advocate from Dahod, Gujarat, India. I have dedicated my life to storytelling, addressing societal issues, and fostering community engagement through creative and digital mediums.
In 1989, I directed and acted in the film *Yeh College Hai*, which was inspired by the real-life story of my cousin, Jigar Sheth. This movie sheds light on the challenges of college life, drug abuse, and societal pressures that affect youth. The film remains a heartfelt tribute to Jigar and aims to bring awareness to these critical issues.
Being a small-budget film made 35 years ago, we faced difficulties raising funds through advertisements. The movie ultimately ended up being 30 minutes long. My inspiration to create this film came in 1987 when I visited Mumbai during my visa call to the USA. During that visit, I went to Mumbai Film City, where I witnessed a song sequence being picturized on Jackie Shroff and Anupam Kher. I noticed that a small tape player was being used in the background for the song, and it inspired me to replicate the same approach. I had a small tape player at home, and by adding a battery to it, I began rehearsals for the movie songs.
Filmmaking fascinates me, and my favorite genres are content-driven and action-comedy films. I believe a little humor is essential in films as people seek entertainment.
Now settled in the USA since 1990, I am planning to make a new movie very soon.
In 1997, I registered and launched Dahod.com, a pioneering website providing local news, updates, and a platform for community interaction in Dahod city. The website has been running consistently since its inception and continues to serve as a reliable source of information for the people of Dahod.
